Health Benefits of Homemade Almond Milk
Almond milk is so nutritious for you. It’s high in calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin E. Almond milk helps your digestive system and your immune system stay healthy and strong.
Healthy Almond Milk Ingredients
- Whole raw Almonds – choose almonds that haven’t been salted or roasted. I love buying a big container at Costco so I have lots of almonds to make almond milk with.
- Filtered water – I love using filter water when blending my almond milk since filter water is better for you and will make your almond milk taste better and cleaner
- Pure Maple Syrup – A little natural sweetener to add in. Totally optional, but it helps make the whole ingredients come together.
- Pinch of Cinnamon (optional) – If you want a little hint of cinnamon add this to your nut milk.
How to Make Homemade Almond Milk
Step One: Soak your almonds overnight. To do this, add 1 cup of almonds to a mason jar and then cover the almonds with filtered water. Cover and place into the fridge, and soak overnight.
Step Two: Drain and rinse almonds in a strainer. Add filtered water and soaked almonds to a blender.
Step Three: Blend the almonds on high for 2 minutes. Pour into a nut bag over a large bowl and squeeze out liquid. I love using this nut bag.
Step Four: Rinse out blender and pour almond milk back into the blender. Add maple syrup and cinnamon. Blend for a few seconds until mixed.
Step Five: Store in a glass pitcher or jar into the fridge for up to 3-5 days.
