Sick natural remedies for little ones to support/boost their immune system

by | Oct 28, 2021

Here’s a list of my favorite natural remedies to help your baby feel comfortable and fight any sickness fast. Most over-the-counter medicines have unhealthy ingredients added that can harm your child’s immune system rather than help them fight an illness. Some of these ingredients are artificial dyes, artificial sweeteners, soy, corn, parabens, alcohol, artificial flavors, and artificial preservatives. These unnatural ingredients disrupt health and hurt your child’s immune system.

Healthy natural remedies made with wholesome ingredients keep everyone healthy. These are my favorite natural products, none of which have harmful ingredients.

It’s important to note that no matter what illness your child is fighting, make sure they are well hydrated and resting lots. Sleep and hydration are so important to help fighting sickness.

Congestion Remedies

Humidifier

Moist air helps stuffy noses and helps loosen mucus. I use this in Liv’s bedroom to help keep the air moist while she is resting or sleeping.

Here is one I recommend buying. Make sure the one you get is easy to clean so it doesn’t get mold over time.

Flu/Stomach Ache Remedies

When your child has the flu or stomach bug it’s important to keep them hydrated and feed them a bland foods to help ease their stomach. The best bland foods are toast, saltine crackers, chicken noodle soup, eggs, applesauce, mashed potatoes, and bananas. It’s important to have them avoid dairy products for a couple days.

Apple Sauce (Unsweetened)

Bland food is best to help stomachaches or throwing up. Apple and apple sauce are an easy fruit to eat with a stomach ache. Make sure the apple sauce has no added sugar. Apples help relieve acid reflux and are full of calcium, magnesium, and potassium. I love buying gogo squeeze packets to make it easier to give my child apple sauce.

Bananas

Liquid I.V Drink Mix + Coconut Water

It’s so important to keep your child hydrated when they are sick. I offer lots of water along with Liquid I.V and coconut water to help her hydrate faster. Unlike Gatorade which is high in added sugar and color dye, Liquid I.V. and coconut water are full of natural ingredients and electrolytes for hydration. When buying coconut water, I always buy brands that have no sugar added and are made with real coconuts.

Cooked Bland Veggies

I like to offer small amounts of cooked veggies for extra important vitamins and minerals that are needed. Most of the time your child might not feel up to eating vegetables when they have the flu or stomach bug. Don’t stress if they aren’t up for eating them. It’s important to only serve cooked veggies to not upset their stomach more.

  • Carrots
  • Spinach

Saltine Cracker

Eating plain crackers helps absorb stomach acid and ease stomach pain. Most crackers are full of unhealthy oils or preservatives. These are my favorite healthy options to pick from.
