Tips for making the Perfect Kale Chips

  • Use a bunch of kale instead of a bag of kale: A bunch of kale tastes fresher and easy to tear the leaves into large pieces since the kale leaves will shrink into smaller pieces when they cook.
  • Wash and dry the kale leaves before starting the recipe: This step is really important so there isn’t dirt or unwanted impurities on the kale leaves. Also, don’t skip letting the kale leaves dry completely so they don’t go soggy when you cook them.
  • Remove all the kale steams: To remove all the kale stems quickly and easily, grab the base of the stem and slide your hand upwards and the leaves will slide off the stem. This method works like a charm. Another great method is to simply rip all the leaves off the stems.
  • Mix the oil and seasoning together before mixing with the kale leaves: It’s so much easier to evenly season the kale leaves when the oil is already mixed with the seasoning.
  • Coat all the kale leaves with the oil seasoning mixture: The better the kale leaves are coated the better they will turn out. Make sure to toss and mix well.

    How to Cook Kale Chips

          • In a food dehydrator: Kale chips can be made in a dehydrator. This is personally my favorite way to make kale chips since you don’t need to worry about the chips getting overcooked or burnt. I highly recommend a dehydrator, it’s one of my favorite kitchen items. You can make so many delicious healthy snacks such as apple chips, banana chips, other dried fruit, potato chips, beef jerky, and much more. This is the dehydrator I use.
          • In an oven: Ovens work great to make your kale chips.
