Easy Baked Apple Chips
Health Benefits of Apples
Apples are packed with fiber and vitamins/minerals and are incredibly good for you. One amazing micronutrient that apples have is polyphenols. Which is known for helping your brain function, boosting digestion, and protects you from heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancers. Eating an apple is one and a half of your daily recommended fruit serving. It’s true with the common saying “an apple a day, keeps the doctor away.” because eating nutritious real foods keeps your body healthy, and apples are a great fruit to add to your diet.
How to make apple chips
- Pick your favorite kind of apple
- Use a mandolin, food processor, or a knife to thinly slice the apples.
- Place the apple slices onto a dehydrator tray or on an oven tray.
- To bake apple chips in the oven: Bake at 220 F for an hour and then flip slices and bake for another hour
- To make apple chips in the dehydrator: Set the temperature to 145 F and dehydrate for 6 hours or until the apples are crispy to your liking.
3 different methods to slice your apples
- Use a mandolin: This tool is AMAZING. I got this one and love it. There are two different mandolin cut sizes if you want thicker cuts or thinner. I like the thicker cuts, so the apple chips still has some softness to them.
- Use a food processor: Attach the slicer attachment. Then use an apple cutter to have small apple wedges that will fit to be sliced. Then add your apple wedges and slice them. This is the one I use.
- Use a knife: If you don’t have a mandolin or food processor, a knife will work. Just try and slice your apple pieces as thin as you can. A tip is to use an apple cutter so you only have to slice the apple wedges instead of trying to cut thin slices with the full apple.
How long can apple chips last
Apple chips last for up to a week in a container or jar in the fridge.

Easy Baked Apple Chips
Equipment
- Dehydrator
- Oven
Ingredients
- 2 apples (or as many as you'd like)
Instructions
Cutting apples:
- Use a mandolin 2mm slicer and slice the apples from the bottom to the top. If you don't have a mandolin use a knife and try to cut the slices as thin as possible (if they are thick they will just take longer but will still be delicious). If you like you can remove the middle of each sliced apple.
- Attach the slicing blade and set to 3. Use a apple cutter on the apples. Add the apple wedges into the food processor and slice into thin slices.
Baking apple chips
- For Oven: Next line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Place apple slices on a baking sheet (its okay if the slices are touching, they will shrink). Bake at 220 F for 1 hour and then flip apple slices over and bake for another hour. If the apple slices aren't all the way crispy to your liking continue baking and check on them every 15 mins.
- For Dehydrator: Set the tempature to 145 and dehydrate for 6 hours or until the apples are crispy to your liking.
- Eat right away or store in a container in the fridge for up to a week.
