Healthy oatmeal recipes like this one give you so many great health benefits and will be your new favorite meal to make. Let’s take a look at the ingredients in this sauteed apple cinnamon oatmeal recipe and see all of the amazing nutrition.

Health Benefits of Apples

Apples are packed with fiber and vitamins/minerals and are incredibly good for you. One amazing micronutrient that apples have is polyphenols, which is known for helping your brain function, boosting digestion, and protects you from heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancers. Eating an apple is one and a half of your daily recommended fruit serving. It’s true with the common saying “an apple a day, keeps the doctor away,” because eating nutritious, real foods keeps your body healthy, and apples are a great fruit to add to your diet.

Health Benefits of Oats

Oats are an excellent source of fiber, protein, heart-healthy fats, and iron. You also get important micronutrients like vitamin D, folate, and zinc.

Ingredients for Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

This oatmeal is packed with nutritious healthy ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need:

    1. Rolled whole oats: I buy the organic instant oats from Bob mills but you can also use oats and blend them up a bit in a blender.
    2. Apples: I like using pink lady or Honey-crisps apples
    3. Pure maple syrup: Swap out any syrup for pure maple syrup. The only ingredient is maple syrup, that’s it! This syrup is better for you than all the other syrups that have tons of high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, and tons of other not-so-good preservatives.
    4. Cinnamon

Together they combine into a delicious bowl of apple cinnamon oatmeal. This recipe tastes similar to apple pie but healthier and better. I love making this recipe for breakfast or for a healthy dessert.

Can you make this recipe ahead of time or refrigerate leftover apple cinnamon oatmeal?

Yes! Both work great. If you want to have healthy apple cinnamon oatmeal ahead of time to make breakfast meals easier or have extras, just let the apples and oatmeal cool. Then store in a container for 3-5 days in the fridge. When you are ready to eat, reheat the oatmeal and cinnamon apples in the microwave.
